ZBA approves ferry terminal variance at Blaney Street
Zoning Board of Appeals · Meeting of July 15, 2026
Salem Zoning Board of Appeals approves ferry terminal variance with zero-foot setback reduction. The board unanimously approved the Salem Harbor Port Authority's request for a variance at 10 Blaney Street, allowing a two-story ferry terminal to be constructed with a zero-foot side setback where 30 feet is required. Chair Nina Vyedin and the five-member board also granted a six-month extension to exercise the variance rights.
The approval required special conditions including verification from the property owner of the adjacent 71 Derby Street property. In related action, the board approved a variance for homeowners to add a garage and sunroom at 23 Jackson Street, and continued a contentious housing-density proposal from Graham Wing to August 19.
