SALEM — Race Equity Commission approves meeting minutes, welcomes new member. The Salem Race Equity Commission voted unanimously to approve its June 4 meeting minutes and introduced Dr. Javier Garcia-Perez, a Salem State University social work professor, as a new member.
Colby Bomberowitz stepped back due to scheduling conflicts. Chair Regina Zaragoza Frey reported that the city's application for the Massachusetts Community Health and Healthy Aging Funds grant was not funded, but staff are seeking alternative sources for the "Salem for All Ages" initiatives. The commission heard a presentation from Julia Scherer-Hook of Salem LUCE, which provides rapid response verification of Immigration and Customs Enforcement activity, and discussed revisions to the Discrimination Reporting Form.
