School Committee dissolves superintendent search panel

Salem School Committee unanimously dissolves the superintendent search committee after deliberating on finalist candidates. The seven-member committee, led by Mayor Dominick Pangallo with Vice Chair Beth Anne Cornell, also voted unanimously to reschedule Collins Middle School's professional development half-day to June 11 and to approve budget transfer requests. Kate Carbone reported significant improvements in district MCAS rankings: Salem advanced to 84th out of 287 Massachusetts districts, placing the district in the 29th percentile for charter school cap rankings, and ranked 216th in MCAS growth, outperforming 215 other districts statewide.
