Sarah Parker Remond school innovation plan wins Committee approval

SALEM — School Committee unanimously approves innovation plans for Sarah Parker Remond and New Liberty schools. The newly formed Sarah Parker Remond School, created through Carlton-Saltonstall merger, will serve 488 K-5 students including 54.3 percent low-income students, 24 percent with disabilities, and 20 percent multilingual learners, using a "Core + More" model that pairs rigorous grade-level instruction with personalized support and community-based learning. New Liberty's renewal plan emphasizes competency-based learning and early college pathways.
The superintendent search proceeds with three finalists named: Dr. Jorge S. Allen of Wellesley Public Schools, Mr.
Andrew Bott of Brighton High School, and Dr. Thomas M. Welch of Boston Public Schools; site visits and community forums are scheduled for June 15-17.
