SALEM — School Committee endorses $60M state food assistance increase pushed by student civics project. Voting 5-0 with two absent, the committee unanimously endorsed an increase to the Massachusetts Emergency Food Assistance Program (MEFAP) as part of a school-year civics initiative on food insecurity. Mayor Dominick Pangallo said correspondence would be sent to state Senator Joan Lovely.
The board also approved a revised school calendar for Sarah Parker Remond School and consent items including fiscal year 2026 warrants totaling $936,887.44.
