Salem School Committee opens public hearing on Sarah Parker Remond innovation plan

SALEM — The Salem School Committee unanimously opened and closed a public hearing on the Innovation Plan for Sarah Parker Remond School with no public comment on June 1, Vice Chair Beth Anne Cornell presiding. Five of seven committee members attended; Mayor Dominick Pangallo and Mary Manning were absent. In related business, Principal Jamaal Camah presented New Liberty Innovation School's plan renewal, which phases in three career pathways over five years, launches an accelerated evening program for over-age and under-credited students pending funding approval, and establishes an alumni network to support graduate workforce outcomes.
Acting Superintendent M. Kate Carbone said the district is pursuing grants from the Read Trust and Barr Foundation.
