Salem approves $1.6 million in fiscal year 2027 administrative budgets. The City Council Committee on Administration and Finance voted unanimously on FY27 budgets totaling $1.645 million for the City Council, City Clerk, Elections and Registrations, and Veterans Services. Key additions include a professional minute-taker at approximately $18,000 annually, translation services for council meetings, and 14 new voting-system poll pads.
Director Kim Emmerling reported Veterans Services continues operating with a dedicated driver and vehicle for veteran rides to the Veterans Administration, a unique service among Massachusetts municipalities, though the department faces ongoing space constraints.
