Salem City Council appropriates $124,943 to extend Skipper transit service through August. The appropriation from the Transportation Enhancement Fund buys time as the city explores alternatives including fixed-route shuttles after losing cannabis-tax revenue. Councillor Kyle Alexander Davis called the Skipper a rare time Salem is taking care of Salem people.
The Council unanimously established a School and Municipal Building Stabilization Fund and passed two Home Rule petitions increasing revenue from short-term rentals and lodging taxes, both approved 10-0-1. Councillor Lydia C. King noted the city would have saved eleven point three million dollars in FY2027 under a proposed state Medicare for All system.
