Council Unanimously Approves FY27 Budgets Across Multiple Departments

SALEM — City Council approves $1.6 million in FY27 budgets. The Administration and Finance Committee unanimously approved operating budgets for Sustainability and Resiliency ($294,927), Conservation Commission ($39,460), Planning Board ($40,563), Planning Department ($888,391), Marketing and Tourism ($297,400), and Historic Commission ($45,086). Sustainability will shift more of the Energy Manager's salary from a revolving fund to the General Fund as solar incentive revenues decline.
The department will focus on net-zero school projects at Salem High School and Horace Mann School, funded by $5 million in Green School Works grants and $7 million in TESE grants. Capital improvement plans include a hydrologic and hydraulic model for stormwater management and Planning projects totaling $2,337,822.
