Committee Unanimously Backs High School Building Project

Salem Committee backs $447M high school project for May 5 vote. The School Committee unanimously approved a resolution supporting construction of a new Salem High School to replace the 1976-built facility, projected at $447 million with approximately $208 million in Massachusetts School Building Authority funding. The Committee also unanimously approved the Superintendent Position Profile establishing a $230,000 to $255,000 salary range, advanced the School Choice recommendation for 2026-27 with district-imposed enrollment caps, and approved a field trip to Costa Rica for Salem High School students April 17-25, 2027.
