Salem School Committee holds FY27 budget hearing on $81.8M proposal. Acting Superintendent M. Kate Carbone presented the FY27 budget of $81,755,368, a 4.6 percent increase, featuring 31.8 position reductions anchored by merging Carlton Innovation and Saltonstall Elementary Schools into the new Sarah Parker Remond School.
The merger is projected to generate $1.7 million in savings. Personnel costs will rise 6 percent to $64,053,930.83 due to recent collective bargaining agreements.
