Salem schools present $5.8M capital request to Building and Grounds Subcommittee. Chair Yamily Byas led the subcommittee through presentations by Assistant Superintendent Pauley and Facilities Director Zissis Alepakis detailing fiscal year 2027 capital priorities: $2.4 million for HVAC upgrades, $825,000 for security improvements including fire panel replacements and secure vestibules, and $535,000 for playground modernization. Bentley School receives $555,000 in capital investments for a new PA system, air conditioning, painting, and security enhancements, while Saltonstall receives $275,000 for painting and signage reflecting the merged school community.
The subcommittee voted 2-0 to refer the Facility Request Terms and Conditions Form to the Policy Subcommittee for review.
