Redevelopment Authority approves Salem Inn expansion with historic restoration
Salem Redevelopment Authority · Meeting of August 12, 2026
Salem Redevelopment Authority votes to advance Salem Inn expansion at 11 Summer Street. The Authority voted unanimously to authorize demolition of a rear garage and removal of vinyl siding from the main structure, which was built in 1762, clearing the way for Salem Inn owner Dick Pabich to expand the campus into 15 hotel rooms and a new townhouse unit. The project includes geothermal heating, solar panels, and site improvements that reduce imperviousness by over 30 percent.
The Authority also voted 4-0, with Vice Chair Christopher Dunn recused, to authorize Executive Director Tom Daniel to execute conveyance documents for the Historic Courthouses redevelopment, with closing expected the following week.
