SALEM — Historical Commission approves Warren Street 2-story addition, bars chimney removal. SALEM — July 1, 2026 — The Historical Commission approved a 2-story addition to 21 Warren Street but declined to permit chimney removal. Applicants Carrie and Lee Dichter, with architect Helen Sides, sought to remove dual chimneys the commission rejected to preserve a pattern feature of Warren Street.
The addition was approved 6-0, while driveway fence and entry details were deferred to September 2. The commission also granted a letter of support for St. Peter's Church's Massachusetts Architectural Access Board variance request and approved multiple historic preservation certificates for window and siding work.
