Bicycling & Shared Path Advisory Committee · Meeting of September 2, 2026

Salem's bike advisory committee establishes regular 6:15 p.m. meeting time and explores nonprofit options. The committee unanimously voted to make 6:15 p.m. its standard start time. Members discussed potential organizational structures including establishing an independent nonprofit or joining national organizations such as MassBike and the League of American Bicyclists, citing the Friends of Greenlawn Cemetery nonprofit model.

Senior Planner Tom Devine reported the Bluebikes station at Salem State University North Campus relocated to Loring Avenue and said he is meeting with neighboring municipalities about regional expansion. The committee plans to invite the DPW Director to discuss collaborative approaches to winter maintenance of bike lanes.
