Salem Bike Committee approves new Bluebikes contract and discusses master plan update. The Bicycling and Shared Path Advisory Committee met remotely on April 8 and unanimously approved prior meeting minutes. Senior Planner Tom Devine reported that completed contract negotiations for the Bluebikes bike-share system eliminated $185,000 in annual operations fees for the city, making the system financially sustainable, though rider pricing will increase modestly.
The committee also discussed revisiting the 2018 Salem Bicycling Master Plan, with members noting the plan was too focused on confident riders and interested in opportunities for public engagement in an updated version.
