Committee plans major master plan revision

SALEM — Bicycle committee plans major update to master plan. At the May 6 meeting, the committee voted unanimously to approve prior minutes and discussed plans to significantly revise the 2018 Bicycle Master Plan with more aggressive language on biking as transportation. Senior Planner Tom Devine announced the new bikeshare operator contract includes favorable terms for the city; Chair John Wathne suggested presenting the program at the North Shore Bicycling Collaborative.

The Transportation Commission is planning improvements to Salem Street behind Saltonstall School and will install a flashing crossing signal at Congress Street bridge.
