SERC votes to oppose Mass Save program cuts
Sustainability, Energy, & Resiliency Committee · Meeting of June 24, 2026
Salem sustainability committee votes to oppose $1 billion state energy program cuts. The Sustainability, Energy, and Resiliency Committee voted unanimously to direct Chair John Hayes and other members to draft a letter to state Senator Lovely opposing the proposed $1 billion reduction to Massachusetts' Mass Save program. Vice Chair Will Winn, who has worked on Mass Save, expressed concern that the cuts represent 40 percent of the program's remaining budget during Year 2 of a three-year plan, making substantial reductions to all benefits unavoidable.
The committee also revised its mission statement, adding natural resources and mitigation as action items, and addressed language access for meetings.
