Salem committee receives water supply board presentation

Salem committee hears water supply board's long-term infrastructure and sustainability plan. Chair John Hayes and the committee received a presentation from Salem Engineering Department Director Ray Jodoin on behalf of the Salem Beverly Water Supply Board about long-term sustainability and modernization efforts. The board generates $70,000 annually through demand response initiatives and has earned three awards: the 2023 International Maintenance Conference Best Reliability Sustainability Program, the 2024 Northeast Water Works Association Utility of the Year Award in the large utility category, and the 2025 Northeast Water Works Association Most Innovative Program.

The committee is advancing work on a plug-in solar ordinance with a presentation planned for September.
