Scholarship Committee Awards $5,000 in Scholarships to High-Need Students

Salem Scholarship & Education Committee votes to award $5,000 in scholarships to high-need applicants. Chair Yamilis Cruz and the committee voted unanimously, 7-0, to grant $500 scholarships to each of the 10 applicants with the highest combined evaluation scores. Committee members evaluated 28 scholarship applications, scoring each from 1 to 5 before adding scores across all reviewers for final rankings.
The Taxpayer's Scholarship Fund maintains a balance of $7,809.58 as of May 4.
