Committee approves $1,500 scholarship for high school culinary program

SALEM — The Salem Scholarship & Education Committee unanimously approved a $1,500 grant for advanced culinary training at Salem High School. The award was granted to Jeffrey Stuart's application on behalf of the Culinary Arts Department, which aims to teach students advanced pig fabrication techniques. In addition to the scholarship approval, the committee unanimously approved meeting minutes from May 5 and March 30, 2026.
As of the meeting date, the Taxpayer's Education Fund held a balance of $17,577.14, while the Taxpayer's Scholarship Fund balance stood at $2,924.35. The committee also discussed future fundraising efforts, identifying potential local business partners and planning to leverage the Salem 400th anniversary celebration.
