Salem refers data center ban and parking-minimum amendment to Planning Board

Salem seeks Planning Board guidance on data center prohibition and parking minimums. Mayor Dominic Pangallo presented a comprehensive data center prohibition across all zoning districts, citing environmental legacies and infrastructure impacts of large facilities. Separately, the city referred a proposal to eliminate parking minimums for two-family dwelling units, framed by Councilor Audrey King as addressing a "loophole" that excluded two-family homes from earlier parking reforms.

Both amendments were referred to the Planning Board for recommendation.
