Planning Board approves 145-unit Forest River Residences housing project

Salem Planning Board votes to advance major housing and development projects in evening session. Chair Kirt Rieder presided as the board voted 8-0 to refer the Harborlight Homes and Lifebridge North Shore project to the Design Review Board, proposing 53 affordable homes and a 70-bed shelter. The board also approved amendments to the North Shore Community Development Corporation and Health Center project, 7-0 with one recusal by Vice Chair Sarah Tarbet.

The board voted 7-0 to approve the Forest River Residences project, featuring 145 dwelling units across the adaptive reuse of three Salem State University buildings and one new structure, with 159 parking spaces.
