Design board approves temporary signage for museum tours

Design Review Board · Meeting of July 22, 2026

SALEM — Design Review Board approves temporary signage for Peabody Essex Museum and leasing banners. The board unanimously approved temporary aluminum signs for the museum's walking tour facility at 161 Essex Street through December 2026 and vinyl leasing banners at 231-251 Washington Street for a three-month term. Vice Chair Marc Perras recommended the three-month leasing-banner term after the applicant initially requested six months, citing concerns about creating precedent for extended temporary signage.

The board continued review of a window replacement project at 6 Front Street due to absent applicant.
