Salem neighborhood associations report maintenance concerns to advisory council. Representatives from six associations aired complaints about snow clearing on Congress Street and Bridge, insufficient maintenance along Swampscott Road, and building facade upkeep in downtown and historic areas during the February 11 meeting of the Neighborhood Improvement Advisory Council. Teresa Arnold, Director of the Council on Aging and Senior Services, reported that the agency provides approximately 1,100 one-way transportation rides per month through the Community Life Center and offers social services navigation, dining, classes, and health services for seniors and residents with disabilities.
The council voted unanimously to approve prior meeting minutes. The city acknowledged that CodeRED, the emergency alert system, is experiencing reliability issues and is exploring alternative notification systems.
