Board of Public Library Trustees · Meeting of September 17, 2026
Salem library board approves prior minutes, addresses building and parking challenges. The Board of Public Library Trustees unanimously approved minutes from the June 18, 2026 meeting and received operational updates from Library Director Tara Mansfield. Temporary Resident Permit Parking restrictions that took effect September 15 limit Essex Street parking weekdays after 5 p.m. and weekends after 12 p.m., affecting library operations and postponing adult yoga programming until November when evening parking is restored.
The Brownstone Stairs renovation project continues to lag behind schedule due to needed Historic Commission approvals, while a glycol leak in the HVAC system presents costly repair needs.
