Conservation Commission approves AvalonBay residential project

Salem Conservation Commission approves AvalonBay residential project after multiple hearings. The commission voted unanimously to issue an Order of Conditions with special conditions 42-66 for AvalonBay Communities' multi-family residential development at 262C Loring Avenue and 8 Harrison Road on Salem State University property. The project includes demolition of the existing building and construction of new residential buildings with associated infrastructure and stormwater improvements.

The commission also approved a negative determination for the City Engineering Department's Bay View Avenue seawall improvements and continued review of Harborlight Homes' affordable housing and shelter beds project, which includes 53 supportive housing units and 70 shelter beds, to August 18.
