Commission awards residencies and studio spaces for 2027-2028

Salem Public Art Commission awards 2027-2028 residencies and Artists' Row spaces. Member Brittany Minton moved to award the 2027 Public Artist in Residence to Javiera Garcia/Cornucopia Threads and the 2028 position to thecollab; the motion passed 5-0. Member Hannah Gathman moved to assign Artists' Row Stall #4 to MiraMar Printmakers, keep North Shore Glass School LLC in Stall #2, and invite Erik Quigley/Death & Decorum and Kimberly Ballou to share Stall #1, passing 5-0.

The Commission also reviewed the FY2027 budget allocating $25,000 to Public Art and approved a travel stipend of up to $2,000 for artist Roark Congdon to attend the dedication of his 400+ Traces of Arrival sculpture.
