Public Art Commission Recommends Accepting Rousseau Art Collection

Public Art Commission · Meeting of April 21, 2026

Salem Public Art Commission accepts Rousseau art collection with conditions. The five-member commission unanimously recommended that the city accept the 12-piece collection valued at approximately $16,550 from the estate of Jaqueline Rousseau, with the requirement that the city does not gain full ownership until three months after City Council approval. The delay allows time to arrange display and storage.

The commission also unanimously approved selections for the 2026 Salem Arts Festival Mural Slam and designated Art Boxes from 30 applicants.
