SALEM — Public Art Commission awards 400+ sculpture commission to artist Roark Congdon. The commission voted 6-0 to approve the award following subcommittee recommendation based on public input and collaboration with the Harbormaster, Port Authority, and Salem 400+ representatives. Becky Fisher was elected Vice Chair in a separate 5-0 vote.
The commission also voted 6-0 to remove a sculpture by R. Douglas Rice titled Worlds Collide and reallocate funds to other public art projects, rejecting his request to replace it with Standing With the Mothers and Children of Ukraine.
