Commission approves three outdoor dining plans for ADA access

Salem Commission on Disabilities unanimously approves three 2026 outdoor dining proposals for accessibility. The Commission voted to approve outdoor dining plans from Not Yo Mama's, Trade House, and Notch, each with ADA-compliant table placement, accessible barriers designed with chains at multiple levels, and paved surfaces meeting accessibility standards. Chair Debra Lobsitz led the review with Commissioner Darren Black highlighting the ability of restaurants to accommodate multiple wheelchairs and the importance of barrier designs at both cane and waist levels.
Two applications were tabled: The Neighborhood Tavern — Salem for inadequate information and El Poblano Taqueria pending licensing board approval, with the Commission meeting next on May 19.
