Dickson Chapel restoration reaches final phase, requires $1.116 million

Salem Cemetery Commission reviews final phase of Dickson Chapel restoration. The commission heard from Preservation Planner Patti Kelleher about a $1.116 million exterior restoration project beginning in April, funded through a combination of Massachusetts Preservation Projects Fund grants, Community Preservation Act funding, capital funds, and a request to the Chapel Trust Fund. Kelleher expects city council approval, with a June 30 deadline for grant-funded work completion.
The commission also heard plans for cemetery pricing adjustments due to increased material and labor costs and discussed policies needed for holiday and Friday office-hour staffing constraints.
