Zoning Board approves variances, continues four petitions

Salem zoning board approves office conversion and undersized-lot housing variance. The board unanimously approved a special permit allowing 40 Boston Street LLC to change from a nonconforming print shop use to office use, with no structural changes to the building. The board also unanimously approved variances for Davie Lynn Slocum and Logan Wynn Owle to construct a single-family home on a 9,169-square-foot lot at 15 Wall Street, with a special condition to preserve trees along the rear property line.
Four petitions were continued to March 18, including Michael Meyer's request to build a 3.5-story two-family house at 99 Leach Street, which drew public opposition including comments from Ward 5 Councilor Lydia King citing density and flooding concerns in the coastal neighborhood.
