SALEM — Zero Waste Salem approves prior meeting minutes as members discuss proposed food waste ordinance. All 10 voting members unanimously approved the previous month's minutes. City Councilor Andy Varela presented a food waste composting ordinance he plans to submit to the city council on February 12, requiring Salem businesses to establish composting contracts and present them with annual health department permits, with enforcement through the Health Department.
Varela requested that committee members attend the city council meeting to show support.
