SALEM — School committee advances high school building toward 2030 opening. Margaret Minor Wood, Senior Project Director at Accenture, told the School Committee the new high school project is in design-development phase with an MSBA submission targeted for March 2027, construction bidding at year-end 2027, and construction start in early 2028. Brooke Trivas, Managing Principal K-12 Practice Leader with designer Perkins & Will, presented restroom designs incorporating feedback from 558 surveyed students, featuring inclusive single-stall and multi-stall facilities with no urinals.

Committee members discussed supervision visibility, locking mechanisms, and shower options; Trivas confirmed suggested changes would be incorporated into the design within a week.
