Salem Zoning Board splits on Leach Street density, approves two subdivisions. The board rejected Michael Meyer's variance to construct a 3.5-story, two-family home at 99 Leach Street in a 3-2 vote, with neighbors arguing the petition represented excessive density in a flood-prone overlay district; Ellen Simpson, Nina Vyedin, and Christa McGaha voted in favor, while Hannah Osthoff and Peter Habib opposed. The board unanimously approved variances for Adimir Toska to subdivide 14-16 Bridge Street into two lots with below-minimum frontage and for Eric Duhaime to subdivide 74 Beaver Street and build with reduced setbacks, both 5-0.
Four other petitions were continued to April 15.
