Salem Zoning Board approves six development petitions, rejects pet grooming business. The Zoning Board of Appeals unanimously rejected Barbara Brown's proposal to open a pet grooming and daycare at 97 Boston Street, with five abutters expressing concerns about noise and neighborhood density. In separate votes, the Board approved a variance and special permit for a two-lot subdivision on Bow Street with deed-restricted fencing conditions; a sunroom addition in the Crowdis Street residential district; a use change at CarFive Motors to add vehicle repair and bodywork services to its dealership with conditions on curb-cut reduction and downward-facing lights; a 2.5-story addition on Orchard Street; an amendment allowing an underground tunnel connection between a garage and house basement on Mason Street; and a spiral staircase with third-floor deck on Essex Street.
All approvals were unanimous.
