Salem Replaces CodeRED With Regroup Emergency Notification System
Salem's city government is closing out June with an infrastructure upgrade that affects every resident: a new emergency notification platform goes live today, and with a heat wave arriving this week, the city is also directing residents to cooling resources.

The city has replaced its longtime CodeRED emergency notification system with a new platform called Regroup. The switch, announced Monday evening, means residents who relied on CodeRED for critical alerts — including emergency notifications, road closures, and water advisories — will now receive those messages through Regroup. Residents should update their notification preferences under the new system to ensure they continue receiving city communications.
Separately, the city issued a heat advisory reminding Salem residents about cooling center availability as temperatures are expected to rise this week. Officials noted that extreme heat poses serious risks, particularly for vulnerable populations, and published cooling center hours for those who need relief from the heat.
On the community calendar side, the city and the Friends of Forten Park are hosting a World Cup watch party at Charlotte Forten Park this Wednesday, July 1, at 7:30 p.m. The game is USA versus Bosnia-Herzegovina. Admission is free, but registration is required. The event is co-presented with Salem 400+, the city's yearlong anniversary initiative.
