Salem Harbor Port Authority Receives $1.4 Million for Design Phase

Salem Harbor Port Authority secures $1.4 million for ferry terminal design work. The Port Authority received a $1,405,670 Seaport Economic Development Council grant enabling design development by June 2026 and bidding to begin July 1, 2027, with construction estimated at $10 million to $20 million. The board unanimously approved prior meeting minutes and reviewed five semi-finalist sculpture proposals from the Salem 400+ Public Arts Commission for port property installation by June 30, 2026.
Chair Kathleen M. Winn expressed support for proposals honoring the Salem Female Anti-Slavery Society and one titled "Traces of Arrival," as the Authority works to identify feasible installation sites for the artwork.
