Salem names interim superintendent, launches formal search with $24,000 consultant. The School Committee unanimously appointed Deputy Superintendent M. Kate Carbone as interim superintendent through July 31 at $245,000 annualized (prorated), and Assistant Superintendent Pauley as interim deputy superintendent at $205,000 annualized (prorated), establishing an Ad-Hoc Superintendent Search Subcommittee and retaining the Collins Jr.
Center for Public Management to recruit a permanent superintendent by August. In related actions, the Committee unanimously relocated New Liberty Innovation School and Salem Prep High School to the Carlton building and renamed the merged Saltonstall-Carlton facility the Sarah Parker Remond School.
