Planning Board Hears Feedback on AvalonBay Development
Planning Board · Meeting of February 19, 2026
SALEM — Planning Board reviews AvalonBay's 340-unit Forest River Residences and continues four applications. The joint Planning Board and Design Review Board hearing on AvalonBay Communities' mixed-use development featured architectural presentations for 340 residential units with landscaped commons. Board members provided feedback on material coordination and pedestrian connectivity; public comment raised concerns about traffic, building scale, and accessibility.
The application was continued to March 5 for the Planning Board and February 25 for the Design Review Board. Three other applications were also continued to March 5: a self-storage facility at 45 Jefferson Avenue, a lot subdivision at 15 Crosby Street, and a Dunkin Donuts renovation.
