Historical Commission approves bandstand renovation, endorses Tabernacle Church project

Salem Historical Commission approves bandstand renovation and backs Tabernacle Church project. The Commission voted 5-0 to approve Option 7 renovation design with brass or bronze metal railings for the 0 Washington Square bandstand, pending review by the Commission Chair. The Commission unanimously approved roofing and paint plans for 20 Hathorne Street using Da Vinci faux slate, GAF Timberline NS shingles, and copper corner caps, as well as window replacement at 17 1/2 River Street.

The Commission voted 5-0, with one member recused, to write a letter of support for the Tabernacle Church Historic Tax Credit Application, endorsing the adaptive reuse project that would preserve the sanctuary and create 48 units of permanent affordable veterans housing.
