Salem Harbor Port Authority delays paid parking system to July 1. The authority voted unanimously to postpone implementation of a new parking revenue system at Blaney Street, deferring the initiative to allow community feedback from the Derby Street neighborhood. Harbor Master Captain Bill McHugh estimates the system could generate $180,450 in revenue through September at $1.25 per hour, with potential October rates up to $5 per hour.
The ferry season opens May 22 with the Nathaniel Bowditch restored after drydock.
