SALEM — Design Review Board approves signage at five downtown Salem businesses. Chair Paul Durand and members Daniel Estes, Catherine Miller, Marc Perras, and Sarah Tarbet voted unanimously to approve signs for Black Cat, Sinistry, Warren Museum, Mexizol, and Odd Meter Coffee and Kitchen in the urban renewal area. Three applications included waivers of code requirements for blade sign placement and hanging distance, justified by the downtown core's pedestrian orientation and nearby comparable signage.
The board also reviewed interpretive wetlands panels at 266 Canal Street outside the renewal area, voting to acknowledge the review and submit accessibility comments to the Planning Board regarding visibility for visually impaired visitors.
