SALEM — Council on Aging Board approves March meeting minutes at April session. Director Teresa Gove Arnold reported the board's senior services handled 46 health insurance cases and 50 housing cases in March, distributed 16 pieces of durable medical equipment, and served 4,933 congregate meals through March in fiscal year 2026, down from 7,448 the prior year due to inclement weather. Mayor Pangallo has proposed raising the senior tax work-off program maximum from $1,500 to $2,000.
The board discussed a potential snow shoveling program modeled on Somerville's youth services approach and confirmed Senior Day 2026 for August 5 with sponsorship commitments from Eastern Bank and Councilor John C. Harvey.
