Conservation Commission approves seawall repairs and residential projects with conditions

Salem Conservation Commission approves permits for residential and commercial projects. The Commission issued determinations of applicability and orders of conditions for eight properties, approving deck extensions at 50 Osborne Hill Drive and 8 Beachmont Road, seawall repairs at Pickering Wharf, and tree removal at 439 Lafayette Street, all with environmental conditions. The Commission continued a major mixed-use development proposed by AvalonBay Communities at Salem State's South Campus to March 17 pending completion of peer review of the stormwater plan.
At 64 Grove Street, the Commission approved a fitness building, basketball court, and dog park on a former industrial site, requiring the developer to provide permanent dog waste pickup bags and maintain regular trash collection. The Commission also issued a Certificate of Compliance for Palmer Cover Park and extended the Order of Conditions for Children's Island for three years.
