Bicycling & Shared Path Advisory Committee · Meeting of February 4, 2026
Salem bicycle committee endorses Washington Street route for U.S. Bicycle Route 1. Senior Planner Tom Devine proposed the direct route between the train station and Salvo path, with input from Kerry Irons of Adventure Cycling Association.
Members identified a critical gap in train-station bike connections but saw the route designation as an opportunity to promote infrastructure upgrades through areas where connections remain incomplete. The committee also appointed Josiah Boucher and is considering participation in the August 1 Heritage Days Parade.
